Award and Recognition from European Commission for Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection (ECHO):
Samadhan feel proud to mention here for having its organizational expertise for quick response to mitigate and reduce suffering of the communities in any emergency situation caused by naturally or man made, especially waterlogging. The South-west region of Bangladesh is highly hazards prone as the areas are adjacent Bay of Bengal; Jessore and Satkhira are the neighboring districts of the ocean. Kopotakkha and Sree-Hori (Muktersori) are the historical branch river of the sea, which are now death and causes of harmfulness for the people of these areas. The lower stream part of the river bed are silted, become high than crops land and has been lost water holding capacity, so that is why, the flood and waterlogging occurring here more or less every year since 2000, where Samadhan provided emergency response and recovery activities continuously from 2006 to 2009 under the support of European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) through Concern Worldwide-Bangladesh.
The organizational initiatives in the sense of planning, beneficiaries’ selection process, involvement of other stakeholders, purchasing, storing, packaging, security, weight and quality of commodities, visibility, program delivery system and commitment towards waterlogging affected people to reduce their immediate sufferings. Overall performance along with prior transparency, accountability, team spirit and management of Samadhan etc. were excellent, effective, highly accepted to the beneficiaries, communities, local government institution, Local Administration and other officials, which were appreciable to ECHO i.e. the name and fame of ECHO, Concern Worldwide and Samadhan have been increased over the areas as humanitarian organization.
After that ECHO has been conducted a formal assessment through a special team, where Samadhan obtained highest score, based on assessment result Samadhan gained one “Land Rover Discovery Tdi” branded 2495 cc four wheeler as award form ECHO as recognition of good performing organization in Bangladesh.
We are really grateful and indebted to all of them of Concern Worldwide-Bangladesh and European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO), who has actually extended their wholehearted cooperation and effort to obtain this Award and Recognition to Samadhan.
