Flood REsistant SHelter for South-West region in Bangladesh (FRESH) Construct flood resilient shelter and latrines for flood and waterlogging affected poor make them aware on WASH through training. Raised 1174 plinths for shelters and latrines at least 2 feet above than flood level. RCC pillar and bamboo mat with wooden structure for fence, 1 door and 2 windows. Constructed 1174 latrines by using CGI sheet, wooden frame, bamboo post and bamboo made fence, slab and 7 RCC rings with sands filling. Conducted awareness session for 1174 beneficiaries on WASH.

Completed 45 days of cash for work for 3600 beneficiaries, Through which make flood resilient 168 community roads, 04 embankments, 70 institutional grounds and re-excavated 01 canal also. 3600 beneficiaries got cash support through cash for training and  become aware on DRR, IGA, homestead gardening and WASH, which supplemented to linking with regular income

To reduce the sufferings and vulnerability of the waterlogging affected population of Keshabpur and Monirampur Upazila under Jessore district (1st and 2nd face) Provide cash support through cash for work & cash for training to linking with regular income and also reduce sufferings from cold wave, established flood resilience shelters and latrines.

 

Completed 45 days cash for work for 5574 beneficiaries, though which made flood resilient 850 homestead ground, 33 school ground, 219 community roads, 34 institutional grounds. 3992 beneficiaries got cash support through cash for training and  become aware on DRR, IGA, homestead gardening and WASH, which supplemented to linking with regular income. Installed flood resilient 14 new deep tube-wells and repaired 10 deep tube-wells. 2700 vulnerable families received hyperemic kits, 2700 families received warms cloths. 450 families got flood resilient new latrines and 450 families got shelter repapering support.

Water and sanitation and Arsenic mitigation Promote healthy Hygienic environment and safe water for community people especially for Women & children of the community. People of the project areas become aware and practicing adequate hygienic learning in the family level i.e. using chapple (Sandel) and soaps before and after toileting and following the cleanliness accordingly, using sanitary latrine, safe drinking water, reduced moveable disease. Tested water of 460 nos. tube-well water, known status of Arsenic presence, used color on tube-well to make people aware accordingly. Installed 27 arsenic and iron removal plants, 270 deep tube-wells and distribute 280 bucket treatment unit for arsenic mitigation and finally covered 100% sanitation. Social forestry and nursery development Roadsides plantation by producing tree sapling, protect environment pollution & create employment opportunities. Planted 105,000 nos. tree saplings on 105 Km of roads, By which created employment opportunities for 210 distress women of the working areas. Domestic violence against women and children Reduce violence against women & children in family and community 23 women and children received treatment facilities, 10 victims received lawyer support, and 38 women victims rebuilt their family life. 4 unions, 12 wards and 1 one committee members are playing vitals roles in protection of violence, accordingly the violence against women and children have been reduced over Keshabpur Sadar union, Trimohinee, Sagordari and Pangia union under Keshabpur Upazila.

Early Recovery Assistance to Cyclone AILA Affected Poor & Marginal people of Bangladesh Reduce sufferings by providing non-food items and Create employment opportunity through cash for work & provide cash support, saplings support and vegetables seeds support to regain their IGAs. AILA affected family received survival support of blankets -20,000, warm cloths-20,000, Towel 6,000, mosquito net- 6,000, carbolic soap- 12,000, shawl- 8,000, water purifying tablets-12,000, plastic made water pot- 500, cash for work support for 9,82,401 person-days, cut- 29,992,877 cft of earth, through which made flood resilient – 5,207 houses, 45.593 km roads, 129 embankments, 6 religious places, 12- school ground, 3000 latrines places, 500 garden places and re-excavated sweet water based 8 ponds. Installed flood resilient 40 deep tube-wells, 3,000 hygienic latrines and established IGA based 100 crab cultivation ponds in beneficiaries’ level. 345 beneficiaries got un-conditional humanitarian support BDT. 17,25,000; 500 beneficiaries received 3000 numbers of different variety of tree saplings,1700 beneficiaries established 1,700,                                                              vegetable garden by receiving different variety of vegetables seeds.  Make  7,286 people  aware on DRR, water and sanitation through folksong. Reducing Livelihood Risks of Poor and Marginal People of South-west Bangladesh in the context of Water logging, Flooding and Long Term Climate Change Impacts Enhance quality of “livelihood patterns” by reducing livelihood risks of the Waterlogging poor and marginal people Quality of the livelihoods pattern have been increased in the context of flooding, waterlogging and  long term climate impacts by establishing 200 ducks farm, 100 hanged garden, 04 open water fish cultivation, 197 cattle farm, 16 integrated model houses, 16.latrines, 16 ponds, 16 home based gardens, Bamboo craft- 50,  10 chines rice hatching incubation and village based 06 vaccinator have been established, through which the livelihoods risks have been reduced and ensured creation of employment opportunities.

Waterlogging Relief and Rehabilitation Project To reduce immediate sufferings of the disaster affected most vulnerable people Reduced immediate sufferings of the waterlogging affected most vulnerable people by providing 168720 kg of rice, 16872 kg of pulse, 11248 kg of salt, 11248 liter of vegetables oil, 11248 kg sugar, 5624 kg of shuzi and 467125 pieces. Other than that new house and new latrines among 80 family, house repairing support in 125 family, cash for work support among 195 family and raised 171 houses & reconstructed 6 roads and installed 15 nos. new deep-well, through which the people recovered their crisis and loses.

Ensuring Risk Management Framework in Local Disaster Risk Reduction Action Plan process (ERMF-LDRRAP Project). To strengthen capacity of Disaster Management committee to managing and identify and reduce different risk caused by different hazards. The local government will be more capable to mainstreaming disaster management in development process. All members of 12 unions, 1 Pourasova and 1 Upazila DMC have been gained knowledge on community risk assessment process. Other community people and all levels of DMC members become aware about their roles and responsibilities before, during and after hazards. Identified risks are ranked, prioritized and risk reduction options are developed through active community participation. LDRRAP of 12 unions and 01 pourasova and 1 Upazila have been developed and discussion initiated for mainstreaming LDRRAPs into development program. Community levels stimulation on emergency situation established on regular basis. Following LDRRAP raised 16 roads, 228 houses, 12 school grounds, re-excavated 02 canals and established 250 hydroponics.

Reducing vulnerability to climate change (RVCC). Reduce vulnerability of 250 vulnerable people through conscientization, training, and alternative self-employment generation as well as increasing income Through this project established duck farm-174, poultry farm-185, cattle rearing project-148, goat rearing project-123, mele cultivation plot- 21, cages culture-38, floating garden-55, poly culture-76, mat making project- 21 among the targeted beneficiaries as adaptation activity, through which ensured beneficiaries income round the year. Other than that the beneficiaries and representatives of the local government institutions become aware and gained knowledge on survivability in the context of climatic vulnerability.
